Many, if not most TV shows police tactics are poorly executed and with little to no reality. The new NCIS Hawaii staring Yasmine Al-bustami as Lucy Tara, Vanessa Minnillo as Jane Tennant and Toni Anderson as Kate Whistler has shown promise in its action scenes.
The action scenes with the guys are the run of the mill macho crap I gave up watching years ago but the scenes with the women offer some hope. This scene with Yasmine is pretty good. The move is to trap the firearm, making it inoperable then strike the assailant in the throat, not wrestle.
Fast forward to 3:08
There is a better scene where Yasmine steps forward with her left foot, parries the firearm with her left arm, uses a web strike to the attacker's throat then smashes his head into a mirror. He would be dead with the throat smash but, hey, I'll give Hollywood a little leeway.
Great support for writers and producers who get it right Rebecca. Thanks.
Another observation of that episode, we tried to understand why the writers pitted Kate against Lucy. Does the viewer need more conflict over and above the agent's versus the antagonists?
