I moved to Southern California as a teenager following my older sister after she graduated from Johns Hopkins with an advanced nursing degree and accepted a job at Presbyterian Hospital in San Francisco.
I landed in Santa Monica and on long weekends a friend and I would take the six hour drive in a volkswagen Bug and spend it with Janet and her four roommates in their massive apartment.
Tony Bennett's iconic, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" played over and over again often closing out a busy day touring the city with five young women. My friend and I thought this must be what Heaven will be like.
They even thought my teenage antic of yelling, "Hi Dad," across from Alcatraz funny.
I hope you have similar memories which rise up frequently giving you equal pleasure as San Francisco with Janet does for me.
