From the Equalizer, "Followers".
When officers arrive, they interview the white woman first and believe her story before they listen to Vi. The video which closed the incident for them, but not for Vi and not for Delilah.
At home this conversation takes place between Viola and her niece, Delilah.
Vi: "Her whiteness was synonymous with truth."
Delilah: "But you can't control how they behave."
Vi: "Don't you buy into that lie."
"I've been protesting all my life, from sit-ins to George Floyd, same fight, and over and over again. To be seen, to be heard, to be human and it hurts. And that hurt turns into rage and rage is much easier to live with.
"If we had left today without being heard, that is what poisons our spirit. Don't do it love. Don't buy that lie."
Watch the video for the rest of Vi's advice to Delilah.
