Last Tuesday I went to the airport to catch a flight from Vancouver Canada to Palm Springs California.

I was flying Air Canada.

After arriving at the Vancouver Airport and checking in I approached Security.

A “Black Skinned Muslim Women wearing a head covering” advised me that l had been “RANDOMLY” selected for an extra security check by Air Canada.

She took my boarding pass and used an orange high liter to mark my boarding pass. She then took my boarding pass and placed it in a small bright folder.

When I got to the security an

x ray process of my carry on baggagewas carried out.

I showed my marked boarding pass to an “East Indian Airport Female Security Person. She advised me to:

Take off my shoes.

Take my phone out of my phone case.

I then was told to walk through the medal detector and take a position in the X-ray machine by a “White Male Security Guard”.

He then proceeded to physically search me by patting down all areas of my body.

I then went to the other side of the X-ray baggage machine to retrieve my carry on luggage.

A “White Female” Security Guard had me turn on my phone, searched my luggage, and again advised me it was requested by Air Canada and was “Random”.

I was finally permitted to join the other people that I was travelling with and who were waiting for me.

I was not surprised or angry regarding this incident because it is not the first incident that I have had regarding me being deemed suspicious on boarding a flight or in other circumstances in public places. And it will not be the last.

Air Canada did not request that I received an enhanced security check because Air Canada is a company. A company is inanimate. A person put this event in motion who works for the company.

I was lucky enough to have the full range of diverse people described in this post to have their turn with me.

As Dr. Claude Anderson says:

“Non-White cultures are not going to treat Black People any better than people who practice White Supremacist Behaviour”.

This event is an example of that statement.

After all, they were just following orders. Each having their part to play on the abusive assembly line.

Since I understand how White supremacist Behaviour works l expect to be treated this way as a a Black Man.

As Neely Fuller says

“expect to be abused if you are black” when we go about our daily activities.

I felt so at home when I came across a bench marked “The Black Panther “ in down town Palm Springs.

Most people won’t look at the incident this way.

But l am so grateful as a Blackman to have my views on Racist/White Supremacist Behaviour reinforced.
