"The individual's problems are derived largely from certain distortions of reality based on erroneous premises and assumptions. These incorrect conceptions originated in defective learning during the person's cognitive development [learned from parents]. The formula for treatment is the therapist helps a patient [racist] to unravel his/her distortions in thinking and to learn alternative, more realistic was to formulate experiences."

"You've got to be taught."
One of the great lessons I learned from university was unrelated to my studies, it was being educated by my fellow students.
Everyone was a resident and away from family influence. Over many weekend parties and coffee sessions, I learned that many kids were taught to be racist from their parents, aunts, uncles etc. and when they had the opportunity to think for themselves, they realized how ignorant that attitude was, how destructive and divisive.
I was sharing my thoughts with my Mom recently and she sent this. I had never seen the movie, although I had heard of it.
These men explain racism and bigotry perfectly.
Thanks Mom
