I participated in a variety of British Columbia investigations until the program's demise attributed to the limited number of convictions.

It will be interesting to see if Alberta's expansion morphs into livestock investigation.

British Columbia committed to improving rural policing in November 2022

"The funding will ensure adequate and effective levels of policing and law enforcement, particularly in rural, remote and Indigenous communities, and in a wide variety of specialized teams that investigate and prevent complex, violent and organized crimes. The funding will also provide support to prosecutors and probation officers with respect to violent, high-risk offenders."

BC Major Crimes unit in Prince George is currently working at a 30% staffing level investigating from P.G. to the Yukon border.

It will be interesting to see if the province's above initiative provides the additional personnel in Major Crimes.
