"The New Democrats have ordered the Greater Victoria school board to protect student safety and curb gang activity after the board’s stubborn refusal to restore a police liaison program in the schools.
The order follows months of efforts to persuade the board to reverse a decision, made last year, to end the police liaison program.
Justifying the move, the board said 'there are some students and staff who do not feel safe with police in schools' — particularly members of the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and persons of colour) communities."
