As a former Delta Force soldier I agree that no police department should have a militaristic training system. We aren't police officers and not tasked with interacting with the public therefore our training has to fit our task, just as police officers training should be.
I've experienced deputy sheriff and secret service training and neither was like what is depicted above. What is the purpose of humiliating and harassing recruits? It won't make them better police officers, won't improve their relationships with the public. It might actually create a Them & Us mentality.

This training is acceptable. The Marine Corp. The RCMP is not a military unit. They are policing civilians, not military combatants.
